Cartoons by Gloria Poole

Since the Lady Bugs had their picnic and the story ended, [but it will stay on this site for the time being] I, Gloria Poole,  am adding some cartoons I created just for fun. This entire site is for the purpose of encouraging parents or sitters to read to small children and or entertain them with safe and decent images on the web.  However, anyone can view this site--it is rated general audiences. See Copyright below.

I drew, painted, signed, photographed and uploaded all art on this blog and usually I gave each a name; but this one above I didn't yet name.   Probably you know if you read my tweets or blogs that I grew up on a farm in South Georgia [USA] and sometimes I create art that reflects that. I put the monkey in this cartoon because my two youngest grand-children love stories about monkeys and Curious George.

I named this graphic I created with my finger on a graphics app , "Rolly walker". 

I drew, painted, signed, photographed , uploaded this also [as I did ALL art on this blog]; and named it "Can't see the shining star for watching the frog" . I photographed this on my portable drawing board which is the brown and metal thingamajig all around it.

For the record and to establish provenance of art I have already created also: the art I have created and signed and posted to this blog of mine is part of an on-going series of art I created since year 1991 beginning in Atlanta, GA that "blossomed"  in year 2005 in  Aurora, Colorado when I lived there for one year [May 2006-May 2007], and art began to really become an integral part of my efforts to save the baby humans from premeditated destruction. In 2005, I began to realize I could use the art to illustrate my talking points in some cases, and to build a secondary "career' for me as artist.  In the year 2006 when I had endured and lived to tell about it a violent crash down a flight of stairs and had trauma, fractures, concussion, because my then-husband DBP tried to kill me to 'make it look like an accident" and he tried to twist off my broken leg, I had immobility for months except on crutches and walking boot after surgery to repair fractures and implant metal. As I sat with leg propped up I began to draw daily and paint to occupy the time and my mind. I also began to post art to the web on my blogs and websites, and also photographs I had photographed. I began a series of art then that is named "ethnic series by Gloria" [me] to attempt to draw and paint an art work of every ethnic group tribe, language, culture in the world and I created eight initial oil paintings in the first batch and posted them to the web on domains of mine.  I moved from Aurora to zip code 80203 for 2 and 1/2 years and then moved to Missouri on Oct 31, 2009 with the art I had in my possession at that time. I paint some of the sketches I created  in do-overs into oils on canvas and those are very visible on the web. I put many of them on my mini exhibit of art at https://mini-exhibition.blogspot.com, and also on my Picasa albums at https://picasaweb.google.com/gloriapoole.

 I, Gloria Poole, am a white, Southern Baptist Christian, woman, single-again, twice-divorced, natural mother of only two children who are grown daughters named Jennifer and Leigh, and also a republican, personhood promoter, prolife activist-blogger, photographer, artist in all mediums, poet, author, illustrator, cartoonist, writer, University of Georgia alumna, U S citizen born in the state of Georgia [but I lived in several places including New York, UK briefly, Nebraska, South Carolina, Colorado, Virginia, North Carolina], former TV producer,tweeter, Registered Nurse licensed in Missouri [but before that in Georgia, UK, other states], owner/writer for words that WORK, and Tapestry of LIFE, photographer, and citizen journo . Gloria Poole is my real, born with legal name and I resumed my full maiden name including my surname of Poole legally by Court order at the time of divorce from male DBP in Colorado in Oct, 2007 at Centennial, Colorado; and I also removed the Pappas name from my name forevermore at the time of final decree in Oct 2007 . I was glad to end that four year horrible marriage of multiple trauma and injuries to me caused by male DBP, [which I testified about in Court on several occasions ].  That second divorce is public record in the state of Colorado, and my first divorce is public record in the state of Georgia. I have created art regularly since 1991, and I had formal training in drawing and in mixing colors /paint and painting in oils and I post much of the art I create on blogs of mine. Lady Octavia was true to her word. She called up Ollie Orange Bear to tell him the picnic is happening today.  Ring! Ring!

 Ollie answers his phone. Lady Octavia said  , " Ollie, today is the day. The picnic is happening today . Do you plan to come to interview Raymond Reindeer ? " asked Lady Octavia.

Ollie replied, " I certainly am. Where and what time? " 

"Well, we have scheduled the picnic table at the Twin Mushrooms Pavilion in the Fantasy Forest, for lunch time---noonish. " 

"I know exactly where that is Miss Olivia [he knows her official title is Lady Octavia but he was taught as child to call older women Miss or Mrs.], and I'll be there. Please tell Raymond Reindeer to expect me. "

When Ollie Orange Bear arrived at the Twin Mushrooms Raymond Reindeer was there all folded up with those long legs tucked under him and he was was thrilled to be interviewed. "Hey! Ollie. Lady Octavia told me to expect you. I am so excited. I've never been interviewed before. " said Raymond excitedly. Then he went on quickly, " I am only the alternate reindeer for Santa, you know that don't you?" 
 Ollie replied, " Hey, yourself! You wonderful reindeer that gets to fly over housetops and make children happy once a year." 
 Raymond said, " Oh, Ollie. I wish with all my heart that is true but so far, I am just the on-call reindeer in case Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen are out sick. They NEVER call-out sick--never. "
 Ollie said, "before we get started, I want to get my note tablet to take notes. I know it's old fashioned but I love to write my notes in my own hand-writing on real paper.  It just makes it more memorable in my mind to do it that way. "
 "Well. sure take your time. The Lady Bugs are setting the table and I think we're early. " said Raymond.
  Ok, Ollie, was situated so seriously with his paper tablet in his hand and his pen poised. "Now, Raymond, tell me how Santa selected you?" 
 Raymond said, "well, you know in Lapland where all reindeer live, there is an annual festival where Santa and his elves appear and they hold reindeer games to see which reindeers are the strongest. You know reindeers have to be very strong to pull that sleigh loaded with a trillion toys for children everywhere. But that's not all. Reindeer have to have good eyesight too, and a keen sense of direction.  The year I was selected, I won the second prize for keen sense of direction. Because I didn't have a perfect score, but did beat everyone except the four  reindeer who pull the sleigh, Santa put me as the "alternate" list which is basically being on-call for Santa to call from midnight on Christmas Eve to midnight on Christmas Day, a twenty-four period. "
  Ollie asked, "Raymond do you get paid for that?" 
"What! Are you kidding? It's an honor to be on Santa's list. I don't know if other reindeer get paid but I wouldn't dream of it, because just think, flying Santa around the world, while he distributes toys to children is a privilege! I would be thrilled to serve--Santa gives away all his toys he and his elves design and make, you know. It's not likely he is very rich.  " exclaimed Raymond.
   Ollie said, "Raymond, what if I write this and put it in the newspaper? Do you think that will help you get to actually fly Santa?" 
  "Well. I don't think it could hurt me in any way. Maybe one of those other reindeer would want a vacation and see that news and think, "aha, now's the time for that vacation', " said Raymond.
 "Ok, then, I think if I hurry I can get this in today's news since the picnic is today. Sorry but I can't stay for the  picnic--got to go if I am to meet the deadline for news today, " shouted Ollie as he was already turned and headed back to the city. 

Ollie's timing was perfect. The Ladies [Bug] called Raymond to lunch.
"Raymond, Raymond! lunch is on the table. Come and eat before it gets cold. Fried chicken, potato salad and chocolate cake for dessert", shouted Lady Octavia.

Raymond had to sort of wiggle into the spot saved for him, between Red Cap Monkey and Lady Octavia  because ,well, to be polite he was so MUCH bigger than they were. Blue Kanga and her baby and Fuschia Rabbit and the other Lady Bugs were on the opposite side of the table.  Blue Kanga has those enormous legs that she bounces on along the earth and the had to be tucked under the table too.  the table was set and the food was there and it smelled delicious!

Lady Octavia said to everyone, "Raymond was interviewed today by Ollie Orange Bear and it might be in today's paper so please read it when you get home. Also,  we are going to have a blessing on this food. So, Raymond will you please ask The Lord's blessings on this food? " 

Raymond said, "me, Miss Octavia?"
And she said, "sure why not? "
So, Raymond swallowed hard and began, " Dear Lord JESUS, we thank you for this wonderful picnic and all the food so lovingly prepared by the Lady Bugs. And I thank you especially that they invited me , and that I got to tell Ollie Orange Bear about my dreams of helping Santa. And thank you for these friends gathered here, and bless this food and the hands that prepared it and use it to the nourishment of our bodies. Amen".
 "Raymond, that prayer brought tears to my eyes. Nobody ever blessed me before", said Lady Octavia, then quickly said before everyone got all teary eyed, "let's eat, I'm starved!"
 And everyone ate and ate and had chocolate cake and went home happy after saying their thank yous.

Lady  Olivia worried some about what Ollie Orange Bear said and she didn't want people to lose interest in the picnic. On the other hand, she wanted it to be a pleasant picnic, not a downpour of April showers or a last minute blast of winter. What should she do? " I know", she thought to herself, "I'll call NOAA and they will know the weather. ". She dialed up the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency on their 800 number. "Hello, NOAA! this is Lady Olivia.  I need to know if the weather is going to be pleasant for a while or if there's more freeze and ice on the way?" she said. 
  The NOAA guy said, "Lady Olivia, I can tell you this much. Right this minute our radar has detected the birds flying back from the South Seas, and they have entered our air space. They should be back into your neighborhood in a few days. ".   "Wonderful! That's absolutely wonderful, because if a freeze was on its way, they'd stay in the warm climate in the tropics. And oh, I do love to hear them singing every morning as my wake-up call. Thank you very much, NOAA," said Lady Olivia.     The NOAA man said, "Lady Olivia you have made my day. It's lonely sitting sitting here watching this radar screen all day. Call anytime. "  
  Lady Olivia said, "why thank you, I might need too again when we Lady Bugs have set a definite day for our picnic. It's a big to-do you know. We have invited Raymond Reindeer who is on Santa's alternate list for Christmas Eve, and Blue Kanga and her toddler. And of course, with a wee one coming to picnic, the weather has to be pleasant. " She hung up, and ran to  Ollie Orange Bear's corner of the woods. 
"Ollie! Ollie! " she called. Ollie Orange Bear appeared and said, "Miss Olivia, you remembered me!" Lady Olivia said, "well, Ollie, the picnic is not today but it's very soon now, because NOAA says the birds are flying back and will be here any day , "replied Lady Olivia.  
   Ollie said "Miss Olivia, who's NOAA?" 
  "Silly me, " said Lady Olivia, " NOAA means National Oceanic and atmospheric agency, and they give extended weather reports. He told me he saw the birds approaching because they entered his air space on radar. Isn't that wonderful? That means WARM weather for sure. "
Ollie said, "and that means P-I-C-N-I-C soon, doesn't it?"
"yes, indeed. I will let you know when, " replied Lady Olivia, "I've go to go now because we have to ramp up again for the picnic to be as we planned. See you soon." And she left.

Update 18 June 2014 at 7:43am by me Gloria Poole to add that I have decided to add a page to this story and am creating art for that page, so will add it soon. I wasn't quite ready for the picnic of Lady Bugs to end! Stay tuned please. It's a work in progress since I create the art and write the story as I go. However, there is one version slightly different that has been published and that first edition belongs to my two tot grandchildren Elijah and Amala. I am making changes slightly to the online version because I had promised them a book 'that no one in the whole world has one like." Keeping that promise has taken some ingenuity on my part because I already had this online version well in process at that time.

Cartoon: Lady bug picnic protest by Gloria Poole of Missouri and Georgia; 23-April-2014

The story of the Lady Bug Picnic resumes so if you are reading this to a small child, begin here:

Lady Octavia looked out her kitchen window, after she got back from telling her friends about the Astronaut photo that appeared on her phone;  and lo and behold! Ollie Orange Bear was marching back and forth on the sidewalk near her house under The Big Tree, and he was carrying a white flag with the words "Lady Bug Picnic" written on it and he was waving it around and shouting . She rushed to talk to him. "Ollie Orange Bear, what are you doing? " she asked.  

Ollie said, "Miss Octavia, you know my cousins Mr and Mrs Orange Bear?" 

"Well, indeed I do. I met them when I visited their Welcome Home hostel to see if it would be adequate if a rain-out occurred for our picnic", replied Lady Octavia. 

 "Well. Yes. I knew that because they told me. But I am mad because I have been waiting forever for that picnic! I want to be there at the Welcome Home when you have that picnic and sort of wander over to it to see Raymond Reindeer. You know he was in the news and I don't think I will have another chance to meet him. So WHEN IS THAT PICNIC?" he asked practically shouting at her. 

 "Oh, I see", said Lady Octavia, "well. Ollie, we couldn't have a picnic in the snow! Every time we had it planned it snowed, or had downpour from heaven. It was really discouraging to us Lady Bugs too." 

Ollie said, "but Miss Olivia [he was taught to call his elders by their proper title but Lady just sounded too formal since after all, he was protesting her at her own house] , spring has sprung. The snow is gone. So ?". 

 Lady Octavia laughed and said, "Ollie, you're in luck because it is soon. I will call you personally when we have a few consecutive days of warm , pleasant, dry weather to tell you when to see Raymond Reindeer at the picnic. AND, if you march around with that flag to notify everyone, why, I might even invite you to the picnic. "

 Ollie grinned and replied "I am happy, happy, happy, Miss Olivia. Thank you very much. I'm going right now to tell my cousins Mr and Mrs Orange Bear that the picnic is on again. Of course, weather good for picnic is also good for travelers who love my cousins' hostel. Life is good, Miss Olivia. " 

And he left.

The Astronaut from NASA contacts Lady Bug cartoon by Gloria Poole of Missouri and Georgia

The story of the Lady Bugs sponsoring a picnic continues in a different version than the one in the book I wrote and illustrated. {Aside to parents} This is paragraph is to read to your children: : 

When Lady Octavia got home to her house under The Big Tree, she kicked back in her favorite chair to watch the news. It had been a stressful day, after all. Swamp Frog made it known he would gobble her up given the chance. And with that news,  she had hurried, hurried , hurried so fast she nearly fell over her six feet.  On the news was a report about the NSA rover on Mars and it got her attention. She thought to herself, " wonder what Mars is like? " and then she thought, " wonder if the astronauts  miss earth?". She fell asleep in her chair and slept restlessly. The next day, on her cell phone was a text message from Mars! The land rover texted her from Mars! It was unbelievable but there it was, plain as day. Lady Octavia was incredulous. "How can this be? How did they know my cell phone number? Can they read minds?" all tumbled through her mind at once. Just then, a photo appeared on her cell phone and it said "from Mars's rover". It was an astronaut! And he had the weirdest eyes she had ever seen on any human. Well, she thought to herself, 'maybe he isn't human? Maybe he's a Martian? " Then that idea just took on a life of its own. A Martian contacted her! She KNEW it--they can read minds! 
She ran to tell the other Lady Bugs, saying, "they will never believe this. I have to show them. "

I think the criminal who stole my GA ID and my Holy Bible with my name printed on it, cut my photo out of the ID and inserted his accomplice's photo which is how it was used to access bank and credit union accounts of mine that began in Colorado. I lived in Colorado only a few yrs and was married a second time there for only 4 yrs and ten months before final decree of divorce from male DBP there. both divorces of mine are public record--one in Georgia and one in Colorado. I moved to Missouri on Oct 31, 2009 to the same apt I am creating this blog from, which is my only residence.
 I have NEVER had blond hair even as a tiny child. Both of my daughters were very blond up until college, but their hair is also darker more like mine now. But I know for certain that one of the accomplices of DBP who lives in Colorado dyes her hair a platinum [false looking] blond because she's old and gray- headed if hair not dyed blond. That is a statement of fact relevant to an on-going investigation into who is using my name and identity. I have been reported as blond yet I have NEVER been blond and NEVER dyed my hair. If you see my selfie from 15-March-2014 on about me page, you see the slight grey tendrils at my temples in my brown hair. I reason I earned them! And I'm keeping them.
Also, statement of fact: I am not subject to censorship or employer laws. I am a private  US citizen by birth and draw, paint, photograph, blog, and tweet from my own private apartment. I always sign the art I create unless I have not finished it and plan to re-draw it or re-paint it.  I do not have not for profit and never did. I never applied for not for profit status for any LLC or LLP I created, nor for my name or art. I intend some day to make a profit! No one is authorized to log into any account of mine anywhere, but me.

Adventures of Lady bugs continues

OK, here's the thing. I have sort of a conflict of interest because when I started this online story illustrated with cartoons I drew and the story I wrote,  and signed, it was mainly for my own grandson Elijah who was 2 yrs old last year. I decided to share it, online  then to put it into a book on paper for him and his sister who was only about 8 months old at the time I began this; because my daughter Leigh wanted it in paper form so she could sit in rocker and read it to them.  I have five other grandchildren but their ages at the time were 4, 6, 8, 11, 13 and I thought probably they had outgrown childhood stories .  Then it was a success with them and I decided to try to publish it. But I had promised Elijah a book just for him that no one in world would have an exact replica of. So, I have given this some thought. 

 Elijah's first edition one of a kind is in print form and he has it.  I have been trying to think how to honor my promise and preserve the copyrights of words and art I created for me.  I think the online story needs to be a bit different to do that. So, I am modifying that book as written on the web from this point going forward so, it will be same to a point then take a different path. As Lady Octavia left the Twin Mushrooms Pavilion and hostel to head back to her home under the Big Tree, she saw Swamp frog sitting on the cobblestone. She was surprised since he usually didn't frequent public places.  She asked , "Swamp frog, what are you doing here? Why did you leave your swamp?" He answered, "rumor has it that the lady bugs are sponsoring a picnic--a big to-do-- sometime soon, and I thought to myself, 'how convenient! The flies will be there in droves and I can slurp them up." Lady Octavia said, "Swamp frog, you are NOT invited. It is gross to watch you eat flies."  Swamp frog's big red tongue unfurled and his saliva dripped as he rubbed his chin. "Well", he said," come to think of it, lady bugs make a tasty snack". Lady Octavia panicked, then scurried away as fast as her six legs could take her, back to her house under Big Tree and slammed the door shut and bolted it. "Whew, that was close", she thought to herself.

I, Gloria Poole, of Missouri  am adding two random cartoons that I created but that have nothing to do with the on-going story of the Lady bugs that give picnics. I have not abandoned the story of the Lady bugs that give picnics. I had so much to accomplish in February that I have not  done it all. I have long periods of down time [from trauma ] and I don't accomplish as much as I would like too, as fast as I would like too. So it's still a work in progress to a degree, though the story and the art of it as a book is done and one copy of it-- the very first one is already published. Now, I have to find a paper  book publisher and all that entails, and see how/ if putting it on web conflicts with on paper. That is what is affecting the online story of it. Either way, the story is written and illustrated by me Gloria, as tangible art in book format and will be available hopefully in one form or other soon for public. It has to become a money-making project for me. 

So, these cartoons will hopefully interest the tiny tots who might have read the story up til now and maybe serve as a sort of "intermission" until the rest of the lady bug story is available from me, publicly.

The purpose of this blog is READING to children.

This entry is not about the story of the Lady bug Picnic, which is written in full already as a book and hopefully will be in mass production in coming year. This entry is about my goal for this blog, which is encouraging parents of young children to READ to their children so their children learn to love to read, and learn to read, and that reading is a part of every day normal existence. This sketch is one that I, Gloria Poole, drew, then painted in watercolors, then repainted in acrylics to illustrate reading to a small child. I purposely chose a man's image to put into this sketch because men in the U S have had a careless disregard for their children and the children of the nation have suffered from lack of father involvement. Of course, a lot of women who work outside the home, often spend little time with their children also. The nation as a whole is suffering because of it. This blog has a mission. I am illustrating it and writing this entry to confirm what that mission is. The story of the Lady bug picnic is merely a "vehicle" for getting parents and children involved in reading together.  The "people" in this sketch are not real people that are known to me. The image of the little girl is totally made up by me with a pencil and paint brush and so is the doll. I saw a similar looking man in an ad and thought he looked about right age to have small child; then altered it some to make it different from ad. 

Also, this sketch is on another blog of mine, and is included in the body of art I have created and is not only for this blog; and is not one of the illustrations of the book as it currently exist. This is "Orange Bear couple" that is part of the story of the Lady Bug Picnic. So, this as if turning the page if you are reading this story on web to your children. To continue the story:

The Twin Mushroom Towers  of the Fantasy Forest are where the up-coming Lady Bug Picnic is to take place, and it has a hostel that has a family room for out of town company. Mr and Mrs. Orange Bear are owners of the  "Welcome Home" hostel. As Lady Octavia Bug approaches to see what it's accommodations look like, and how much it costs, she finds Mr and Mrs Orange Bear sitting on the grassy knoll. "Well, I do declare" says Lady Octavia Bug, " I didn't expect to find such a warm welcome". Mrs. Orange Bear said, " well, we knew you were coming because you texted us, and we wanted to make sure you found us.".  Lady Octavia was overjoyed, because the hostel's family suite  was spacious, airy, comfortable, peaceful AND affordable.  "Why, to think, she thought to herself, " that any guests coming to the picnic from far away can stay here and be comfortable, and not break their budget."  

  "Mr and Mrs Bear, I am so happy to know about this place. The Twin Mushrooms pavilion is already scheduled for that day, but I am a bit worried if it should pour down rain and our guests be in a tizzy. Are reservations required?", she asks.  Mr. Orange Bear replied, "we take reservations for those who know their itinerary, but reservations are not required. If you or your guests get in a pickle, just call on your way here. We'll make room if we have too. " 

  "Oh, thank you very much, " Lady Octavia beamed as she spoke the words. "Here is my card, if you need to get in touch with me. We have sent invitations to Fuschia Rabbit, Red Cap Monkey, Blue Kangaroo whose name by the way is Mama Kanga and her baby, and well, of course, we did not invite that horrible Giant Chameleon, or Lone Wolf. We cannot let them amongst our people--why it's horrifying to think what would happen! We will run from the Twin Mushroom Pavilion to the safety of your hostel if we get so much as a whiff of them lurking near by.  And oh, almost forgot, we Lady Bugs also invited Happy Reindeer who RSVP'd quickly and said he "would be there with his boots on", and we are delighted, because they are so busy this time of year. delivering all those Christmas gifts. We couldn't not invite him, because he lives in our meadow, and we didn't want to hurt his feelings. We Lady Bugs thought he would scoff at the idea, with Christmas only 19 days away, but he sent his photo of his happy dance in his boots, when he got his invitation in the U S mail. 

 "Now, now, dear" said Mrs Orange Bear, "don't get yourself so worked up. I am sure that the Twin Mushroom Pavilion is quite safe. We do business here on its grounds, 24/ 7. " "But," added Mr, Orange Bear quickly, " we will certainly provide you a safe refuge if those characters should show up at your picnic; not to worry". 

 Lady Octavia Bug asked, 'would you like me to sign your visitor's book?  I would be more than happy to do that. " "Why, yes, that would be great, because it helps us build our reputation too. How kind of you to offer, " replies Mrs. Orange Bear, " follow me to the alcove." And so they walk the short distance to the hostel, and enter the door. There in the cozy alcove is the Visitor's Log Book and Lady Octavia Bug signs her name : 

"I'll be going now, Perhaps we shall see you soon, but if not, then there will be more opportunities. I invite over night  guests  for the holidays often and sometimes, they prefer European pleasantries instead of the meadow. I just reassure myself that it is not personal. Some "people" just don't like grass and flowers and sunshine, " said Lady Octavia. And so she leaves the Twin Mushroom pavilion's hostel and waves good-bye to Mr and Mrs. Bear.

These three photos tell another part of the story of the Lady bug Picnic:

 Since Fuschia Rabbit, Red Cap Monkey, Blue Kangaroo and baby didn't get to the first picnic the Lady Bugs had, and since the giant lizard did, the Lady Bugs decided to schedule another picnic in a safer place than The Meadow. They put their heads together and came up with the idea that probably the Fantasy Forest would appeal more to Red Cap Monkey, Fuschia Rabbit and Blue Kangaroo, so they scheduled the Twin Mushrooms pavilion for the day. Then they hand wrote invitations, because hand-written invitations are waaaaaaaaay better than ordinary typed ones and are more fitting and proper etiquette. So they sent the invitations by U S mail and they put one on the web for those whose addresses they didn't know. They included a set of directions with it instead of a map, even though the invitation said "map included". They reasoned that anyone who couldn't read would probably feel uncomfortable at their picnic anyway, so written instructions were more informative. And they sent along a photo of Fantasy Forest to help them recognize it,  just in case some weren't local or had never spent any time in the forest.  They even told them whom to R.S.V.P too. R.S.V.P. means respondere vous plait [ unsure of correct spelling] in French which means in English please respond whether or not you plan to attend. They wrote that Lady Octavia Bug could be called if one of the guests got lost on the way to Fantasy Forest. 

"Now, then..." thought the Lady Bugs. "We have planned carefully. The Twin Mushrooms will be a much safer place for a picnic than the open meadow. And we have invited properly those we want to attend, and have sent directions. Now, then we must begin to plan the menu. "

I Gloria Poole am adding two more cartoons here [this is one of my blogs] that I created in past week.  Since I am praying this will be a very safe site for small children to see regularly, I am planning to add to it regularly.  When I say I am praying it will be safe, I mean that what I put on it myself is safe, moral, and free of viruses as best I could certify that depending upon my isp account's measures in place.  This is not a shared apartment nor a shared blog, nor a shared isp acct, nor a shared internet account. But I have learned after ten years of having websites and blogs that there is a shadow internet that people are not aware of it, til millions of people's info was compromised by cyber-hacker/criminals.  Since I am one of those people, whose info has been compromised often by using the internet, I know what I write about. 

These cartoons are simple stories. The top one is a page in the Lady bug picnic story on this blog. So if you haven't read the 'pages' of it, scroll to first entry and read coming forward. I am trying to create an online [e-book for small children] that the mother or daddy could sit down and scroll through post entries to the read the entire story to the child. Also, I have created another cartoon sketch that it much more developed and that I painted and named "Raymond Reindeer" which I think I posted to another blog of mine or maybe to earlier posts on this one. They are totally different cartoons created in different years but both created by me.

 The  blue mama kangaroo with her baby in her pouch is also headed to the Lady bug picnic. Of course, the lady bugs were all excited to hear about the new baby kangaroo, and they sent a special invitation to mama kangaroo and wrote in fine and fancy calligraphy PLEASE bring baby too,  fearing mama kanga might leave the wee one home with dad. So, the mama kangaroo was thrilled! After all, she had been cooped up in that house with that new baby for a while now, and having a reason to go somewhere was good news to her. She was bounding along on those gigantic legs of hers, and lo and behold, she saw beside the path dancing flowers! They were holding hands and forming a 'can-can' line and singing happily. Well, she was astonished. But what was even more astonishing was she saw her own wee one give an A-OK signal to the flowers. Well, mama kangaroo just stopped in her tracks to witness her own baby taking notice of the surroundings and responding to it. "This is something to write in my baby book for sure--aw, shucks, why didn't I bring my cell phone with the camera?',  she thought to herself. [ next page not posted yet--stay tuned].

The second cartoon is a cartoon to make you laugh. It's a woman learning judo. 
I was required to take judo for self defense when I was a student nurse [many years ago] . 
I am a Registered Nurse, licensed in Missouri but can't work in it except to write on blogs 
[because of trauma on two different events of concussions, fractures, with the sequelae of that].  
The YA on it is because the Army Major that taught me and the entire class of student nurses
 [in Atlanta GA ] said for judo you have to shout first to throw the attacker off guard. 
I have only used judo once in my life, to save my own life
 [in Colorado during those horrible years I lived there. ]

The third one is a cartoon that I intended to be a page
 in the lady bug picnic story.  So to continue the story:
 the red cap monkey was invited to the lady bug picnic,
 which is why he is wearing his best cap. 
And he was ambling along on all fours as monkeys do, 
and the hot sun was beaming on his behind. 
 And well, wearing that fur coat and that cap, he was getting too hot. 
So he has a frownie face.  And then he just stopped a minute;
 and had a talk with himself 
and he said : "well, it's just a bunch of ole lady bugs.
They probably won't notice if I don't show up. " 
And then he got to the jungle edge and he decided that he would just miss
 the tea party and head to the jungle where it is nice and cool
 and he could play in the trees, and that is what he did. 
And he missed the tea party /picnic altogether.

 and each time resumed my maiden surname of Poole after divorce was final. 
 I have two grown daughters whose names are Jennifer and Leigh and I do not have any sons.

These four cartoons are some I drew years ago, put up for safe keeping then  I found them again when I was photographing my ethnic series of paintings and sketches. I lived in Atlanta, Ga metro  &  city  intermittently for total of 11 yrs. I worked as RN there [yr 1995] but I drew and sketched then as I do now but not as often. I was also born in the state of Georgia, and I am white, single, Christian, woman.

 I created this in an effort to teach myself cartooning. They are acrylics on paper. I didn't give them a name at the time. I thought others might get a laugh from them. It's a way of doing something for small children to see online [but also for anyone.].
